How Vinted shipping works

Unlike eBay, Vinted handles shipping through their integrated system. When a buyer purchases your item, Vinted generates a prepaid shipping label. The buyer pays the shipping cost, not the seller. Your job is simply to package the item and drop it off.

Vinted currently offers three shipping options in the UK: InPost lockers, Evri ParcelShop, and Yodel drop-off. The buyer chooses which service they prefer at checkout.

How to package Vinted items properly

Most Vinted sales are clothing, shoes, and accessories. Here is how to package them:

  • Clothing: Fold neatly, place in a poly mailer or recycled plastic bag. No box needed. This keeps weight down and fits InPost lockers.
  • Shoes: Wrap in tissue paper, place in a padded envelope or the original shoe box inside a poly mailer.
  • Fragile accessories: Use bubble wrap and a small box. Mark as fragile on the label.
  • Multiple items: If a buyer purchases several items, package them together to save the buyer on combined shipping.

Tips to sell faster on Vinted

  1. Set a custom shipping price. If Vinted's default shipping costs seem high for your item, you can offer to cover part of the shipping in your listing price. Buyers love “free shipping” or reduced rates.
  2. Keep parcels small. The smaller your package, the cheaper the shipping for the buyer, and cheaper shipping means faster sales.
  3. Ship within 5 days. Vinted expects you to ship within 5 working days. Sellers who ship within 24 hours get better visibility in search.
  4. Get proof of drop-off. Always keep your drop-off receipt until the buyer confirms receipt. This protects you if anything goes wrong.

When to ship outside Vinted

Vinted's integrated shipping is convenient, but for heavier items (coats, boots, bags full of clothes), the Vinted prices can be steep. If you and the buyer agree, you can arrange shipping independently — though you lose Vinted's buyer protection.

For independent shipping, compare prices on Parcelfire. Evri starts from £3 and DPD from £4.89 — often beating Vinted's built-in rates for heavier items.

Vinted vs eBay for sellers

Vinted charges zero seller fees, making it attractive for casual sellers. eBay charges ~12.8% in fees but offers a much larger audience. For clothing and fashion, Vinted is usually the better choice. For everything else, eBay wins on reach. Many sellers list on both platforms simultaneously.
