The Complete Vinted Seller Shipping Guide: Save Up to 40%

Last updated: 15 May 2026

We have been selling on Vinted for three years now and shipping costs used to eat into my profits massively. A dress I sold for eight pounds would cost me three to four pounds to ship using Vinted's built-in labels. That is almost half my sale gone. After testing every alternative I could find, I have cut my average shipping cost by around 40 percent. Here is exactly how.

Should You Use Vinted's Built-in Shipping?

Vinted offers integrated shipping labels from InPost, Royal Mail, Evri, DPD, and others. The convenience is great because the buyer pays and it is all tracked through the app. But here is what most sellers do not realise: the prices Vinted charges buyers for shipping are often higher than what you could arrange independently.

When a buyer sees "3.99 shipping" on your listing, that makes your item look more expensive overall. If you offer "free shipping" by building a slightly lower shipping cost into your price, items sell faster. I tested this extensively. Listings with "free postage" get roughly 30 percent more views and sell 2-3 days faster on average.

How to Ship Vinted Items for Less

Here is my system for keeping shipping costs down:

Step 1: Weigh everything. Buy a cheap digital kitchen scale (under 10 pounds from Amazon). Weigh every item before listing it. Most clothing items weigh between 200g and 800g. Knowing the exact weight means you never overpay for a heavier weight bracket.

Step 2: Use a price comparison tool. Before you list an item, check what it would cost to ship using our parcel comparison tool. Enter the weight and dimensions. You will often find options cheaper than Vinted's integrated labels.

Step 3: Choose the right courier for the item. For lightweight clothing under 1kg, Evri ParcelShop is usually cheapest at around 2.15 to around 3 pounds. For shoes or heavier bundles, Yodel or DPD pickup start to make more sense.

Best Couriers for Vinted Sellers in 2026

  • Evri ParcelShop (2.15 to 3.49 pounds) - Best for lightweight items. Drop at any Evri shop. Tracking included. 5-7 day delivery. Perfect for single clothing items.
  • InPost Lockers (2.99 pounds) - Great for small items. 24/7 drop-off at lockers. Buyer collects from a locker too. Very convenient for both parties.
  • Royal Mail 48 via reseller (2.89 pounds) - Faster than Evri (2-3 days) and very reliable. Buy discounted labels through parcel brokers rather than the Post Office.
  • Yodel (around 3 pounds) - Cheap and getting more reliable. Good for medium weight items. Collection available for slightly more.
  • DPD Pickup (3.29 pounds) - Premium option. Next day delivery, photo proof, excellent tracking. Worth it for items over 15 pounds in value.

Packaging Tips That Save Money

Packaging costs add up when you are selling 20-30 items a month. Here is how I keep them near zero:

  • Polymailers, not boxes. For clothing, use lightweight poly mailers. They are cheaper, lighter (saving on postage), and take up less space. I buy packs of 100 for under 5 pounds.
  • Reuse packaging. Save every padded envelope and box that arrives at your house. I have not bought a box in over a year.
  • Tissue paper, not bubble wrap. For most clothing, tissue paper looks professional and weighs nothing. Save bubble wrap for shoes or fragile accessories.
  • Right-size everything. A smaller package means a cheaper courier bracket. Fold items neatly. Compress with your hands. A jumper that looks like a 5kg parcel can fit into a small flat mailer if folded properly.

Handling Returns and Disputes

Vinted's buyer protection means you need proof of posting for every item. Always get a receipt or use a tracked service. If you ship without tracking to save money and the buyer claims non-delivery, you lose the item and the money. Not worth the risk.

For items over 10 pounds in value, I always use a service with tracking and ideally signed delivery. The extra pound or two is insurance against disputes.

My Monthly Shipping Cost Breakdown

To give you real numbers: last month I sold 24 items on Vinted with a total sale value of 187 pounds. My total shipping costs were 52 pounds using my comparison method. If I had used Vinted's built-in labels for everything, that would have been approximately 84 pounds. That is a saving of 32 pounds in one month, just from spending 30 seconds comparing prices before each shipment.

Over a year, that is nearly 400 pounds saved. For doing essentially nothing extra except a quick price check.

Quick Start Checklist

  • Buy a digital kitchen scale (under 10 pounds)
  • Stock up on polymailers (100 for 5 pounds)
  • Weigh every item before listing
  • Compare courier prices using Parcelfire before shipping
  • Always use tracked services for items over 10 pounds value
  • Offer free shipping and build cost into your price
  • Drop off at ParcelShops rather than paying for collection

The difference between profitable Vinted selling and breaking even often comes down to shipping. Get this right and every sale puts more money in your pocket.
