Can You Book DPD Directly?
Yes, but it is often cheaper to book through a parcel broker. DPD direct prices start at around 8-10 GBP for next-day collection, while brokers like Parcelfire can offer the same service from 5-7 GBP. The service is identical — same driver, same tracking, same delivery speed.
Step 1: Get a Quote
Enter your parcel dimensions and weight. DPD accepts parcels up to 30kg and 1.5m in length. For heavier items, you will need DPD Freight or an alternative courier. Make sure to measure the longest side of your parcel — oversized items incur surcharges.
Step 2: Book Your Collection
Choose your collection date — DPD offers next-day collection if you book before 4pm. You will receive a one-hour collection window via text/email on the morning of collection, typically between 8am and 6pm. No need to wait in all day.
Step 3: Print Your Label
After booking, you will receive a shipping label by email. Print it on A4 paper and attach it clearly to the largest flat surface of your parcel. If you do not have a printer, some brokers offer label-free options where the driver scans a QR code from your phone.
Step 4: Hand Over
The DPD driver will knock and scan your parcel. You will get instant confirmation via the DPD app with full tracking from that moment. If you miss the driver, they will leave a card and attempt redelivery or you can reschedule via the app.

Tips for a Smooth Collection
Package properly — DPD will not collect unpackaged items. Have your label ready before the driver arrives. Check weight limits — anything over 30kg will be refused. Keep your phone handy for the one-hour window notification. Leave with a neighbour if you cannot be home — just let DPD know via the app.
What If Collection Fails?
If the driver cannot collect (nobody home, parcel not ready), you can rebook for the next day at no extra charge via most brokers. Two failed attempts may result in cancellation. Some brokers charge for re-collection after a no-show.
